If you couldn’t make it down to the Convention Centre on Beacon Road for Carols on the Mountain, you missed a rare treat! The pre-entertainment hot food; chips; donuts and other delicacies; gifts and glowing candles were on sale from 6.30pm and the jam packed entertainment started at 7pm, continuing on until the child friendly hour of 9pm.
There was a great atmosphere of fun and frivolity, as we sang the Australian version of Jingle Bells and other contemporary carols as well as the traditional old fashioned favourites. Dave Baker; Jo Cox, Bernie Tane and Sue Swanborough performed items and led us in a few carols, before Sally-Anne Martin’s rendition of “Christmas Shoes” left most of us reaching for our tissues! Of course the 10-piece band and a twenty seven voice choir also helped make evening a raging success!
The profits from items on sale throughout the evening will go to the Chaplaincy service which helps to fund the work of three chaplains on the mountain who provide care, help and assistance to students and their families on the mountain. Many thanks go to our generous supporters for goods and services rendered and in particular Donna at Norco Milk and Mike and the team at Tamborine Mountain Butchery.
But if you missed out, don’t despair, come along to Liberty Baptist on Christmas Day at 9.00am, at Tamborine Mountain High School auditorium on Holt Rd. We’ll be singing more carols to celebrate the birth of Christ and you’ll be warmly welcomed! See you there!
